In less than 20 minutes, you may have some delicious chicken thanks to this spice-filled blackened chicken recipe. A simple dinner!
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 large chicken breasts, (about 1 pound)
- 1½ teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, (more or less to taste - see note)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
INSTRUCTIONS:
Step No.1
Cut each breast of chicken in half lengthwise. After removing the skin, gently dry the four chicken breasts.
Step No.2
Combine all the spices and apply the mixture to the chicken breasts.
Step No.3
In a heavy-bottomed pan or cast iron pan, add the olive oil and heat over medium-high heat. Add the chicken to the hot pan and cook it for 4–5 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Before slicing, let the chicken a few minutes to rest.
NOTES:
I rate this seasoning a 4/10 on the spicy scale, using 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper. You can tweak to suit your preferences more or less.
